SFs recover huge cache of arms

Imphal, September 09 2024:
Joint operations by the security forces comprising Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur police and other agencies led to recovery of huge cache of arms, ammunition and other warlike stores in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Imphal East, Bishnupur and Thoubal districts in the first week of September, In separate statements, PRO Defence and PRO IGAR (S) informed that Army, Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF and Manipur Police recovered two 9mm pistols with magazines, one single barrel 12mm bore, 17 improvised long range mortars, one each AK series rifle, carbine machine gun, sniper, INSAS Rifle and single barrel 12mm bore gun, three single barrel rifles, three pistols, six improvised mortars and war like stores in the general area of Liklai, Mashemjang, P Geljang, Thoroilok, Gelmon, Molphai Tampak, Leisanbung and Maulnghat in Churachandpur district.
On September 5, Indian Army and Manipur Police busted an arms cache in fringe areas Bf Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts, recovering 11 weapons, 6 pompis and ammunition and other war-like stores.
Additionally, a bunker was also destroyed at Molphai Tampak on September 7, it added.
The PROs continued that in Loiching Ridge area of Kangpokpi district on September 7, a joint team of Army and police recovered one country made drone, one 7.62mm sniper rifle, one .22 rifle, one single barrel rifle, one 9mm pistol, 12 single barrel rifles, two 5.56mm assault rifles, one self-loading rifle, one assault rifle, one improvised long range mortar, one improvised short range mortar with stand, grenades, ammunition and other war like stores.
In Bungion, Maulsang, and Vaikul Lok Nala, one modified AK-47 rifle, three large country made mortars (pompi), two medium country made mortars, one small country made mortar, and five grenades along with explosives were recovered.
In Thoubal district, AR and Manipur Police received information indicating presence of arms and ammunition in general area Tentha.
The joint operation resulted in recovery of four single barrel shotguns, ammunition and war like stores.
The statements further mentioned that FIRs have been lodged and the recovered items handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal.
