Tumuyon Khullen clarifies, reaffirms stand on 'War on Drugs'

Tumuyon Khullen Village Authority has warned anyone tarnishing the name of the village.
Even as the Tumuyon Khullen Village Authority and the village's Youth Club extending support to the "War on Drugs" campaign under the dynamic leadership of chief minister N Biren by destroying poppies cultivated within their jurisdiction by outsiders in their land, it is quite perturbing that a news column with the heading "2.2kg of heroin seized" on May 26, 2022 which mentioned those drugs were loaded from T Khullen of Senapati district was circulated in both print and electronic media, the Tumuyon Khullen Village Authority said.
Referring to the news report, the village body continued that around 1.20 pm on the said day, a combined team of Imphal East Commando and Heingang police arrested two drug dealers along with 2.288 kg of heroin (No.4) which were concealed in 176 soap cases from Khabam Lamkhai, Mantripukhri near Sushma Photo Studio along the Imphal-Dimapur highway.
As such the driver and his assistant identified as Abinash Oli (30), s/o Pasuram Oli of Mantripukhri Devi Lane and Sagar Shar-ma(18), s/o Deepak Sharma of Kanglatongbi Durga Mandir Hathikwa (near SBI ATM), presently residing at Senapati, Vakho Bazar were arrested, if further said.
The following day, Tumuyon Khullen village Authority set up a special committee to get detailed information on the said case.
The committee had also assured the police department to give their full cooperation to arrest any individual/groups involved in the said case from their village.
However, after thorough inquiry, it was found that none of the locals was involved, the village authority added.
The village then strongly warned all those dealing in black market not to do any kind of such transaction within its jurisdictions as it affects the reputation and social ethics of the village.
The village authority also declared to take its own course of action based on customary law, said A Maraiba, chairman, Tumuyon Khullen village.
In the meantime, the village authority expressed gratitude to the police department and reaffirmed its stand to support War on Drugs' mission of the state government.
