Sit-in protests suspension of Nongpok Sekmai OC

Reacting against the suspension of Nongpok Sekmai police station OC Keisam Premkumar in connection with the May 4 incident, sit-in protests were organised in different parts of Yairipok on Monday.
The protestors also questioned as to why the DGP and the SP concerned have not been suspended.
The sit-ins were carried Out in areas under the jurisdiction of Nongpok Sekmai police station.
Leirongthel Development Women's Group organised the protest at Leirongthel Community hall, Phanjakhong Apunba Meira Paibi Lup at Phanjakhong Thumkhong Lairembi Community Hall and Kakmayai Apunba Meira Paibi Lup at Kakmayai Mamang Leikai Meira Shanglen.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest at Lairongthel community hall, meira paibi leader Yangambam Inaobi asserted that the suspension of OC Premkumar is unreasonable and cannot be accepted as none of the OCs and SPs have been suspended in connection with the atrocities committed by the Kukis against the Meitei community.
Expressing resentment over suspension on OC Premkumar in the aftermath of the viral video of the May 4 incident, she pointed out that the incident could be in retaliation of atrocities committed by the Kuki community against the Meiteis.
Moreover, it was impossible for OC Premkumar alone to control the huge mob, she maintained and urged the chief minister to look into the matter seriously.
Protestors used placards inscribed "We condemn suspension of OC Premkumar", "Revoke the suspension order at the earliest", "DGP should resign", "We Meiteis stand together, fight together", "No separate laws for Meiteis and Kukis", "We stand for Manipur state force" and "Long Live Manipur" .
