Hundreds unite for 7K "Run for Unity" in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, November 07 2024:
Oasis College, Kangpokpi in collaboration with Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Sadar Hills and support from the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) organised 7K marathon, "Run for Unity," as part of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
The event saw over 500 youths from across the district join forces, running from Keithelmanbi Military Colony to Kangpokpi town to champion unity, peace and national integration.
Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills (Youth Affairs) vice president Thangmang Chongloi flagged off the marathon.
Oasis College Board of Management chairman Dr Thathang Vaiphei underscored the marathon's deeper purpose highlighting the importance of unity in challenging times.
Lalkhomang Kipgen from Somphung village in Saikul Sub-division triumphed in the boys' category, while Nengnunnum Chongloi from Kholmun Veng Ward No 14 took first place in the girls' category.
The winners were awarded Rs 5000 and honoured with citations.
In the boys' category, Lengoumang Kipgen of Twisomjang and Mangkhanlen Kipgen of S Phailengkot secured second and third positions, receiving Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively.
In the girls' category, Lhingboikim Khongsai of Saikul and Hatneivah Lhouvum of A Songpijang earned the second and third places, also awarded cash prizes and citations.
Additionally, the top 20 runners in each category were recognised for their efforts and were presented with citations.
