Imphal, September 07 2024:
Stating that Manipur is not Biren and Biren is not Manipur, Good Governance Party (GGP) president Yambem Laba has posed whether the people should continue to save Biren or save Manipur instead.
In a press meet held at GGP's office in Uripok Yambem Leikai on Saturday, Laba urged the 50 MLAs to stop waiting for the BJP to replace Biren, while questioning why the 50 MLAs are hesitating from resigning from their respective posts.
He continued that the existence of Biren is against the interest of Manipur.
If he (Biren) continues to remain in power, the chaos in the state will never subside.
Laba continued that GGP had to watch the use of high-tech armaments by the "Kuki UT Demand Wallahs" first at Koutruk in Imphal West using drones for the first time on Indian Soil on September 1, in which an innocent Meetei housewife and another were killed and at least nine others including a minor and three policemen were injured.
"On Friday, we witnessed in Moirang, Bishnupur dis trict the use of long-range rockets by Kuki militants killing yet another innocent Meetei.
The missile was said to have been fired from a distance of about eight km.
Later, Sugnu area came under fire.
It is crystal clear now why CM Biren Singh himself had said that law and order in the hills would be looked after by Amit Shah and the valley by him.
We can safely infer that while CM Biren had ordered the withdrawal of Meetei village volunteers from Koutruk and thereafter, upon directive from Delhi the Kukis had set the bomb wielding drones into operation," the GGP president alleged.
"CM Biren was mad to abandon his 'people' at Koutruk upon receiving direct orders from the BJP High Command to return to his safe haven while attempting to visit there.
Thus, we can observe the stoic silence of all the elected legislators representing the people of Manipur even as the 10 Kuki MLAs rejoiced upon the killings," he remarked.
Laba then said that the systematic hounding out of Meetei village volunteers from various villages under the supervision of CM Biren, was followed by attacks by Kuki gun wielders.
"The weapons used by the Kukis are mostly seen to be used by the Indian and Pakistani forces.
Thus, we suspect that the Government of India is hatching a genocidal war against the Meeteis using the Kukis as the medium and CM Biren Singh as the shield," he accused.
Recently, the BJP High Command had deputed Sambit Patra to visit Imphal.
He is said to have -visited Moreh as well as the residences of two BJP higher ups to seek their views apart from the other MLAs.
"We do not know what his mission was about but it is time for the 50 MLAs and the people to say 'NO' to the continued occupation of the 'High Chair' by Nongthongbam Biren Singh.
The time has come for all the BJP/NPP/NPF/JD (U) legislators to openly come out and say 'Please Leave the Chair Shri Biren', in addition to resigning from their won respective seats.
Perhaps the time has come for the people of Manipur to follow the recent uprising in neighbouring Bangladesh when the student-led movement led to the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed," he remarked.
Questioning how many more deaths Manipur has to witness before a semblance of law and order can be seen and felt, Laba also did not spare Congress for signing the SoO with a group which only had 12 cadres in 2008.The SoO was signed out of concern that the group with only 12 members would hurt India and Manipur, a situation which is not even seen in folktales.
He further questioned why the then CM O Ibobi failed to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, the Biren-led government is unable to disqualify a lady minister, who is the wife of the president of KNF, a group with an agenda to destroy Manipur.
If the CM is so terrified, it would be best for him to resign from the post, the GGP president remarked.
