Kakching, December 06 2024:
Like Minded Group (LMG), Manipur, has extended financial assistance to one Nongmaithem Deva (55), a farmer of Loitang Leikinthabi, whose paddy crops piled for threshing were burned by unidentified miscreants on the night of December 4 .
A team of LMG, led by its secretary Ojit Sorokhaibam, visited the aggrieved farmer on Friday and handed over a cash donation of Rs 5,000 to help him cope with his loss.
Ojit revealed that they learned about the unfortunate incident through social media and decided to provide assistance to mitigate the farmer's hardship.
The incident follows a similar act of arson reported earlier, where 1.2 hectares of paddy crops belonging to another farmer, Prema, who cultivates on leased land, were burned by unknown perpetrators.
In an effort to identify those responsible, Ojit announced a cash reward of Rs 30,000 for any information that would lead to the identification of the perpetrators behind these acts of destruction.
