Imphal, February 06 2025: Apunba Meira Paibi, Kongpal Iranpham Thongk-hong organised sit-in protest at its Meira shed on Thursday against the killing of a village volunteer near Salungpham school in Thoubal district and arrest of six village volunteers.

The protestors held placards and chanted slogans including 'We condemn killing of students', 'Stop arresting village volunteers', 'Transfer Thoubal SP to Churachandpur or Kangpokpi', 'Terminate police commandos involved in killing of village volunteer', 'Repeal AFSPA 1958' and 'Resign irresponsible CM' among others.

Speaking on the side lines of the protest, the local Meira Paibi secretary P Anito pointed out that the village volunteers have been playing a crucial role in defending foothill villages from attacks by Kuki narco-terrorists.

While condemning arrest of village volunteers, she demanded their unconditional release at the earliest.
