4 hurt as villages dash over land dispute

Ukhrul, June 05 2022: District magistrate of Ukhrul on Sunday evening promulgated prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC within the area of Choithar village and Langdang village after clash erupted between the two neighbouring villages over land dispute.

According to police reports, four people sustained injuries during a clash that broke out between the two sides from 2 pm and continued till late evening on Sunday.

The injured are Lungmi Tungshang (58), Rashing Tungshang (31), Buipuimi Luithui (29) and George Luithui (30) all from Langdang village.

The two neighbouring villages reportedly locked horns over the ownership of a piece of land located near the erstwhile District Central Jail area along Ukhrul-Jessami road.

As immediate preventive measures to maintain law and order and to check any untoward incident and breach of peace and tranquillity in the area, DM Ukhrul has promulgated prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC from immediate effect and until further order.
