Imphal, May 03 2023:
Delhi Association of Manipur Muslim Students (DAMMS) remembered the unfortunate and unprecedented violence of May 3, 1993 in which around 100 Pangals lost their lives.
Each year the coming of May 3 marks an inescapable remembrance of the painful memory about the heinous genocidal violence where innocent women, children and helpless labourers were murdered on May 3 and 4, 1993 .
Pangals across the world continue to observe this day as the darkest day in the history of the community in Manipur, DAMMS said in a statement.
With this year's observance hitting the landmark three decades of ensuring injustice to the Pangals, DAMMS reiterated its old demand of constituting an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) and ensure that all the perpetrators are made public with their deserved punishment.
It also demanded the state government to provide reasonable and respectable compensation to families of the victims and the majority community should make a public apology to the Pangals and ensure similar incidents will not happen again.
