"AMCO is heartbroken by these barbaric acts, which we consider not only crimes against humanity but also an abomination before God.
AMCO questions the perpetrators' claim to any religious or moral authority in the face of such cruelty.
The erosion of series of moral integrity and the failure of the state's institutions to prevent such heinous acts are a source of deep concern for us," it said.
AMCO urged authorities to prioritise the safety of all individuals, including Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, who is has gone missing from Leimakhong military station, and called for his safe release.
It also appealed to all concerned to spare innocent people and children while calling upon all stakeholders, regardless of community or religion, to cease hostilities and work towards peaceful coexistence.
Despite heavy security presence since May 2023, women and children remain unprotected, and violence persists.
The re-imposition of AFSPA has failed to restore peace, it noted, while adding, "we urge those in positions of power to act swiftly to restore order and normalcy, prioritising peaceful solutions over militarisation' .
AMCO appealed for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the violence as the Christmas season approaches, a time 6f hope, joy, and peace.
It also called upon churches across the state to lead in prayer, seek God's intervention for peace, healing, and restoration during this holy season.
"We believe that peace is not only possible but also a divine calling for us all.
AMCO stands firm in its commitment to justice, peace, and the protection of all lives, especially those of the women and children of Manipur.
We ask the faithful to join us in prayer for the swift restoration of peace in our state," it emphasised.
