CCpur, December 01 2023:
Indian Youth Congress president Srinivas, general secretary Purnachand Padhi, secretary in-charge Sarifa Rahman, and a team of the District Congress Committee Churachandpur provided essential materials to nine relief centres in various parts of the district.
Starting from the Ngaloi relief centre, the team of Congress leaders distributed relief goods to internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying at Lamka College Dorcas Veng community hall, Simveng (SYO Hall), youth hostels, Ngoiphai and others.
The relief materials included medicines, blankets and diapers.
President Srinivas told this correspondent that as winter sets in, the IDPs feel desperate to keep their bodies warm because they left their homes without having time to bring anything with them, and they also require proper medical care because, he learned, that they do not receive adequate supply.
So, in order to provide at least some respite, they are distributing medicines and blankets, and that whatever possible help at their disposal will be prepared and made available to them in the future, he assured.
Sarifa, on the other hand, stated that they have begun supplying resources for schools such as notebooks, benches and others in Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Imphal valley districts.
She went on to say that they are doing everything they can to meet the needs all IDPs, but that this should have been done by the government because those in power are elected by the people.
Instead, they have become the ones who have caused these issues, which is quite upsetting.
