PM hails job creation in state under MSME

Imphal, October 31 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the state for providing maximum number of jobs by ensuring highest number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) registration in the entire northeast region.

Meanwhile, chief minister N Biren gave the credit for having highest number of MSME units in the northeast to the Startup Manipur and TRIFED schemes under which several eddcated unemployed youths took up new ventures in the MSME sector.

Biren on Friday posted on Twitter, "Nearly 1 lakh jobs created by MSMEs in Manipur.

I am extremely proud to share that Manipur is one of the highest ranking States in the North East Region in both Registration of MSMEs and Employment generation in the GoI's Analysis of Udyam Registration Data".

"As per the GoI's data, a total of 11172 MSMEs were registered from Manipur as of 30th July 2021, which has generated a massive employment of 99568 jobs.

We have started witnessing the fruits of our initiatives like Start-Up Manipur, TRIFED, etc," the CM tweeted.

The following day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi re-tweeted, saying: "Well done Manipur! Keep up the good work of leveraging the strength of the MSME sector in order to further the state's progress".

Mention may be made that the government provides loan of up to Rs 25 lakh for plant and machinery installation in manufacturing sector to micro enterprises; up to Rs 5 crore to small enterprises and up to Rs 10 crore to medium enterprises.

In service sector, the government provides loan up to Rs 10 lakh to micro enterprises, up to Rs 2 crore to small enterprises and up to Rs 5 crore to medium enterprises.

The state government is also providing various incentives to MSMEs under Industrial Policy 1996 .

Besides, the government is providing financial assistance in the form of loan with subsidy to various enterprises under the Manipur Startup scheme.

The department of commerce and industries is providing the facility for online registration of enterprises through online memorandum filing.

The department had also framed a draft industry policy to replace the existing one with new and updated provisions.
