Senapati, July 31 2024:
Pointing out that Thonglang Government High School in Thonglang Akutpa village has over 200 students, including 24 in class X, but has only four government teachers, Thonglang villagers urged the education department to post adequate number of teachers in the school.
The problem of shortage of teachers in the school is being managed by the village authority by employing village youth on payment of meagre monthly honorarium to ensure continuity of education, they said and lamented that amid the school in serious need for adequate numbers of government teachers, the assistant headmistress was promoted and transferred to some other school without any replacement.
Expressing concern for future of the students, the village chairman urged the education department for posting the required teachers and other facilities to help the school bring better results in future.
Thonglang Akutpa villagers also sought the attention of department concerned for providing Mathematics and Science teachers.
Mention may be made here that Thonglang High School was established in the year 1957, upgraded to High School in 2012 and had been known to be one the best performing government high schools in the state for the last three-four years.
Department of Education (Schools) had also recently awarded token of Appreciation to the school in recognition of securing 100 per cent pass percentage in the HSLC examination.
