Three held for stealing Airtel Joint boxes

Kakching, June 30 2021:
Chandel police has arrested three people who stole 15 Airtel fibre cable wire joint boxes from an area in Chandel district headquarters on June 28 .
The joint boxes have also been recovered by the police.
The arrested persons have been identified as Imtiyas Khan (24) son of late Indadulla Khan of Thoubal Moijing Chingya Leikai, Sanatomba Maibam (30) son of late Ajayruddin Maibam of Thoubal Moijing Wangma Taba Moijing Thoubal and Noor Khan (42) son of Jaan Muhamad of Thoubal Moijing Khang Manung.
According to police, Airtel company fibre side engineer lodged a complaint to Chandel police station on June 22 informing that 15 Airtel fibre cable wire joint boxes installed between Komlathabi and Chandel oil pump were stolen.
Acting on the complaints, a team of Chandel police led by Additional SP Chandel Shankerjit Loitongbam and Chandel Police Station OC Potshangbam Surajkumar conducted search operation for the thieves and rounded them up from an area between Langthabal and Lilong Chingjin on June 28.A Maruti van bearing registration number MN 01AG 7332 used in the heist was also seized.
After interrogating the robbers, the 15 Airtel joint boxes were also retrieved from an area near Heirangoithong bridge.
The three thieves were produced before the court of CJM Chandel on Tuesday and remanded to four days in police custody, it added.
