84 power theft cases settled

Imphal, June 30 2013:
Manipur State Legal Service Authority (MSLSA) organised a Lok Adalat to settle cases related to electricity theft and motor accident claim cases at Cheirap Court Complex here today.
During the Lok Adalat in all four benches were set up to settle the cases.
The first bench comprising M Manojukumar Singh, District judge of Manipur East; Y Rother, CJM, Churachanpur and Lanleima, JMFC, Kangpokpi and the second bench comprising U Kol Singh, Retd.District Judge; Quyum, Advocate and M Bahadur Singh, Advocate settled cases of electricity theft while the third bench of Ph Surendra Singh, Retd.District Judge; Binny Ngangom, CJM, Tamenglong and Ph Binodini Devi, Advocate dealt with motor vehicle claims under New India Assurance Co.
Ltd.) iv) and the fourth bench comprising A Noutuneshwari Devi, CJM, Thoubal; L Binoy Singh, Advocate and Ph Sundari Devi, Advocate looked after motor vehicle claim cases related to Oriental Insurance Co.
Ltd.) .
In all 84 electricity theft cases were settled and disposed off thereby collecting a sum of Rs 2,01, 800 as fine.
For claim cases relating to Oriental Insurance Co.
Ltd.
16 cases were amicably settled and a sum of Rs 27, 40, 000 was awarded as compensation to the aggrieved parties.
With regard to cases related of New India Assurance Co.
Ltd., 49 cases were settled with a total award of Rs 43,93, 000.The highest compensation settled today was to the tune of Rs 5 lakh.
