Imphal, December 31 2019: City Police, yesterday, took 8 days custody of Paonam Manikanta and Thiyam Roshan in connection with the powerful IED blast near Sani Mandir, Thangal Bazaar on November 5 which injured 5 police personnel (including Additional SP of Operations) and a civilian.

Yesterday, the IO of the case (SDPO Imphal) had filed an application before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West, for the formal arrest of Paonam Manikanta alias Amuyaima (31) s/o Amu of Jirighat Lakhinagar Maning Leikai (presently staying at Tentha Tuwaband Leikai) and Thiyam Roshan (44) s/o (L) Tomba of Singjamei Chin-gamakha Kshetri Leikai, as they were produced before the Court, along with six other co-accused in connection with another case registered at Imphal PS .

The Court allowed the application of the IO, apart from remanding the two individuals in the custody of City PS for necessary investigation, till January 6 next year.
