Imphal, July 30 2013:
About 30 hectares of paddy fields at Kaborou Loukol, Sanaphou Thabi Loukol and Luwangsangbam Pat Loukol of Keibi village have been inundated due to lack of proper drainage system.
The farmers are now apprehensive of possible crop failure if the paddy fields remain inundated for a long time.
A farmer Ningthoukhongjam Ibohanbi told Hueiyen Lanpao that the paddy plants have started to bear fruits, but heavy downpours for the past few days has inundated the fields.
The crops are most likely to be devastated.
There is no way to drain out water from the inundated fields.
The authorities concerned have not taken up any measure to bring relief to the farmers, he lamented.
The farmer has drawn the attention of State officials to solve the problem of inundation and bring relief to the aggrieved farmers who are apprehensive of crop failure this year.
