Ayurveda treatment gaining popularity: Dr Ranjan

The 9th Ayurveda Day 2024 was organised by National Ayush Mission, Directorate of Ayush, Lamphel under the theme "Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health" at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong, on Tuesday.
The commemorative function was attended by Health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan and Ayush director Dr Akoijam Lokendro as chief guest and president respectively while Health and Family Welfare special secretary Hungyo Worshang and state ayush officer Dr S Bishwanath were the special guest and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ranjan highlighted that Ayurveda has become one of the most effective treatment procedures in recent times.
The Ministry of Ayush has recognised and promoted Ayurveda in various parts of the world, taking initiatives to further its development.
Moreover, Ayurveda is now becoming increasingly much sought after globally, he added.
He further stated that Ayurveda Day is being observed by the Government of India since 2016 to raise awareness about Ayurvedic principles, medicinal herbs, and lifestyle practices.
In the light of global competition and the challenges faced, as well as the need to reduce stress in this increasingly competitive world, Ayurveda will play a crucial role.
"Therefore, it.is essential to popularise and promote Ayurvedic treatments by developing innovative approaches," he stressed.
Minister Ranjan also highlighted that Manipur is blessed with a rich array of medicinal plants and herbs, while emphasising the need for comprehensive studies on these resources.
He also stressed the importance of producing own Ayurvedic products and strengthening the healthcare system.
