Online legal awareness progs conducted

Imphal, August 28 2021:
In association with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) organised an online legal awareness programme on 'Rights of daily wagers and labourers during the pandemic under the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' WelfareScheme, 2016' on Saturday.
The programme was attended by judicial officers, panel lawyers, PLVs and district labour union representatives with advocate Tolen Potshangbam speaking on the theme of the programme as resource person.
DLSA Senapati also conducted a similar programme for labourers/workers, panel lawyers, PLVs of Senapati district under the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on Saturday.
During the programme, District and Sessions Court Senapati additional public prosecutor Koshia Mao spoke on the topic 'Impact of Covid-19 on daily wage workers and labourers' along with highlighting benefits of labour card and other schemes.
The programme was attended by DLSA chairman Samom Bijen, secretary A Tarunakumari, JMFC Mao Ksh Maheta, retainer lawyer S Marysena, front office staff, labourers and panel lawyers.
In Tamenglong district, the awareness programme on the topic ' Mitigating problems faced by senior citizens with primary focus on their well-being during COVID pandemic with active involvement of para-legal volunteers (PLVs)" was organised by the District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.
As the resource person, advocate L Pinky Devi elaborated on the centrally sponsored schemes meant for the senior citizens and explained how the volunteers could extend help to the needy persons during the pandemic period.
An interaction session was also conducted between the PLVs and the legal experts as a part of the programme which had the participation of Imphal West District & Sessions Judge Aribam Guneshwor Sharma Judicial Magistrate First Class (Noney) Leonid Ahanthem and District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong secretary K Nirojit as well as and PLVs and CSO leaders of Noney and Tamenglong districts.
