One hurt in IED blast

Imphal, August 26 2015:
A 55-year-old man was injured when unidentified people suspected to be underground cadres exploded an IED near the post of the 45 Assam Rifles at Chingarel along Imphal-Ukhrul road under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East on Wednesday morning.
Thokchom Kumar, who owns a tea stall near the gate of the Assam Rifles post, was injured due to shrapnel hitting in the back.
The victim is a resident of Kangla Shangomshang.
Police sources said the blast occurred at a site about 150 m from the Assam Rifles post at around 7:45 am.
The injured was rushed to a nearby Primary Health Centre.
Following the blast, a team of Imphal East Police commandos led by Additional Superintendent of Police Manjit, Officer-in-Charge and Lamlai Police Officer-in-Charge rushed to the site to take stock of the situation.
Police said 16 people were detained for questioning in connection with the explosion.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility the blast.
