Constructions of buildings for 50-bedded hospital in Tamenglong, Chandel, Ukhrul and Jiribam are slated to be completed by December this year, Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing informed during demand discussion in the State Assembly on Thursday.
Responding to observations made by MLAs during the discussion for demands, Phungzathang stated the government is paying attention towards improving health scenario in the state, and informed that construction works for 50-bedded hospitals in Tamenglong, Chandel, Ukhrul and Jiribam have begun as sanctions for the same were already made.
Admitting reports on food adulterations and hospitalizations due to food poisoning, the Minister announced that requisite staff for Food Safety under Health Department will be recruited soon.
He also cited that there were incidents of ban on health clinics running without proper licenses.
Regarding the irregularities in the Mother-Kid scheme, the Health Minister disclosed that the accused staff of the concerned company was arrested under an FIR for misutilisation of the scheme, while the private limited company was also black-listed.
Case is pending in the court, even though supplies are yet to be done for the items.
He further stated ambulances are provided at various places in the hills and the valley, while more number of ambulance vehicles is allotted to the hills.
Informing that a registrar has been appointed for the State Medical Council, Minister Phungzathang assured the House that other members will be appointed shortly, after which the nomination of chairman will be considered.
The Minister also informed the House that the government is paying attention to posting of doctors.
While discussing the demands for MAHUD, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who also holds the charge of MAHUD, recalled that at the beginning of construction of 3 women markets, there was an agreement with women vendors to premise a bank, one canteen and an office of the women vendors on the top floor of the complex, while there was also plans for maintaining parking on the ground floors of the 3 markets.
Referring to the disputes on non-license holders among the market vendors, the Chief Minister said it would be difficult to accommodate all the small traders inside the Khwairamband market.
He also expressed the need to arrange another location for the traders.
MLAs Shyamkumar, Ibohalbi, Ibomcha and Joykishan took part in the discussion.
Later, the House passed demands for Rs.342,10,08,000 for Health, Rs.149,72,24,000 for MAHUD, Rs.18,00,26,000 for Corporation, Rs.40,19,81,000 for Administration Justice, Rs.5,59,59,000 for Stationery & Painting, Rs.6,98,96,000 for Science & Technology and Rs.8,05,61,000 for Information Technology.
