Cong missives to Prez demand sacking of Amit Shah

Kak/Tbl, December 24 2024: Reacting to the alleged disparaging remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, Kakching Block Congress Committee (KBCC) has submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the Kakching deputy commissioner demanding the immediate dismissal of Amit Shah as the Home Minister and tendering public apology for his comments.

Addressing media persons after handing over the memorandum to ADM M Kapajit on Tuesday, MPCC secretary Ksh Kennedy, condemned Amit Shah s remarks, claiming that it was an insult to Indian democracy and a blatant disrespect to the Indian Constitution.

He insisted that Amit Shah's comments tantamount to mocking the citizens of India and insulting marginalised communities, including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Dalits.

Given the stature of Dr Ambedkar and the respect he commands from the citizens of India, it is clear that Amit Shah's remarks have hurt the sentiments of millions of Indians, the memorandum said.

"As the Principal Opposition in the Parliament of India, and being a party which is committed to upholding the Constitution, we urge the Highest Constitutional Functionary and Head of the Union State to immediately dismiss Shri Amit Shah as the Union Home Minister of our country and direct him to issue a public apology for his remarks against Dr Ambedkar," mentioned the memorandum.

Meanwhile, as part of the "Babasaheb Ambedkar Samman March" demanding resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and public apology for his comments, District Congress Committee, Thoubal also took out a protest rally from its office till Thoubal DC complex and submitted a memorandum to the President of India though the Thoubal DC .
