Aimol Chingnunghut, Khunyai villages settle dispute

Aimol Chingnunghut village and Aimol Khunyai village, which were at loggerheads with each other after the clashes that happened in September 26, 2020 in which a villager from Aimol Chingnunghut village was killed and many from both the villages were injured, have reached an amicable settlement.
The agreement was reached between the two villages during the final talks held at Aimol Tribe Union Manipur (ATUM) office complex, Aimol Tampak village on Tuesday.
During the final talks, Aimol Khunyai Village Authority agreed to compensate Aimol Chingnunghut Village Authority as per the customary law of Aimol tribe and it was also resolved that both the villages will now live harmoniously.
A prayer was conducted by Aimol Satu Baptist Church pastor reverend S Simon for the welfare of both the villages.
The meet for holding final talks was attended by Aimol Chingnunghut village chief Kh Lianeichung Aimol, Aimol Khunyai chief Kh Kholianjir Aimol, village authority members of both the villages, ATUM president Munthuireng Aimol, vice president Th Akhup Aimol, general secretary K Sialloa, Aimol Students' Union Manipur (ASUM) president S Khupminthang Aimol, vice president Ch Munal Aimol, general secretary Kh Lalchung Aimol, joint secretary S Semi Aimol and information secretary Ch Laldei Aimol along with village chiefs and authority members of Aimol Satu, Aimol Kumbirei, Aimol Tampak, Aimol Khullen, Aimol Chandonpokpi and Kha Aimol.
It may be mentioned here that a fight broke out between Aimol Chingnunghut and Aimol Khunyai villages, Tengnoupal district on September 26 last year over a disputed playground which resulted in death of Aimol Chingnunghut village pastor Lh Thangjalal and injuries to 23 villagers including women.
