Imphal, May 20 2025:
While setting certain guidelines for organising musical events in the state, All Manipur Matam Eshei Kanglup (AMMIK) has instructed musical event organisers and artistes to conclude their programmes before midnight.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Tuesday, AMMIK general secretary M Dhananjoy stated that the ongoing crisis in the state has not yet fully subsided, with many internally displaced persons taking shelter in relief camps continuing to face various challenges.
He noted that artistes in the state have also been affected, unable to perform for a long time.
However, they have now resumed serving the people through musical performances.
Considering the situation from both perspectives, it is appropriate to allow musical events to take place.
Artistes also need to survive, he said, clarifying that AMMIK is not imposing any ban on musical events.
He added that music and songs often serve as a source of relief, helping to relax both the body and mind and offering a brief escape from sorrow.
Dhananjoy further informed that live telecast of musical events should be stopped and all musical events wind up by 12 midnight.
The event organisers should also ensure that no unwanted incidents occur in the course of the event, he reiterated, while urging musicians and singers to remind event organisers regarding these guidelines.
Dhananjoy also said that organisers must obtain a formal approval from AMMIK before hosting any musical event to avoid any untoward incidents and misunderstanding among the artistes.
It is important to understand and adhere to the guidelines before organising an event," he said.
