Bishnupur, September 19 2024:
Meira paibi activists of Nambol, Oinam and surrounding villages took out a torch rally on Wednesday evening to demand that the central government uphold territorial integrity of Manipur and flush out Kuki narco-terrorists from the state.
The rally began from Oinam Kangjeibung, passed through Nambol Bazar and ended at Nambol Higher Secondary School playground with the participants raising slogans for firm action against Kukis who are scheming to destroy state's integrity, not to arrest or detain village volunteers protecting Meetei villages close to Kuki settlements and replacement of the Manipur DGP and entrusting the government of Manipur to take over the Unified Command.
Speaking to media persons, one Joykumar Khuman, who is member of rally organisers, pointed out that inaction by the central government despite reports of killing Meetei civilians by Kuki militants using drones, rockets and other sophisticated weapons has raised suspicion whether they are supporting Kukis in their attempt to destroy Manipur's integrity.
He also decried the arrest of Meetei village volunteers for repulsing attacks by Ku kis militants and accused the Kuki community of playing the minority card but continue to launch attacks on the Meeteis.
Joykumar also stated that the rally was organised to press the government to firmly deal with Kuki narco-terrorists and flush them out from Manipur.
