DESAM to organize people's convention on ILPS

Imphal, August 19 2015:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and Apunba Iramdam Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) in collaboration with other like-minded social organisations jointly held a meeting on Tuesday and resolved to fight the ongoing ILPS mass movement together with the people.
As a part of the ILPS movement the meeting resolved to organise a people's convention to decide the future of the Manipuri people on August 21, Friday at GM Hall, Imphal at 10 am.
A six-member team 'Committee for Reconsolidation Campaign for Implementation of ILPS' has been constituted to organise the Convention, DESAM informed.
Moirangthem Angamba and Longjam Sanjoy have been appointed as Convener and Co-Convener of the committee.
The people's convention will discuss on the topics� merger of erstwhile independent Manipur nation with India and its effects on Manipur and its indigenous peoples; response of the Govt of India and State Govt to the people's movement against demographic invasion; ethno-centric Manipur and Peace Accord between NSCN (IM) and Govt of India; exploitation of the rights of the ethnic-indigenous communities and rights of the native people of Manipur to decide its own future.
Seeking support from the people for the People's Convention, M Angamba also appealed to all concerned not to call any bandh or general strike on this day.
