Ukhrul, December 18 2021:
UADC caretaker chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung on Saturday inaugurated the newly-constructed building of Ringui Ramhon Primary School (RRPS) at Ringui Ramhon in western Ukhrul in the presence of UADC inspector Somi Raising, headmaster Dytimus Ramsan, SMDC/RRPS convener Somatai Ngalung, UADC officials and local villagers.
Cutting the inauguration ribbons, Dr Ngalung informed that the new building comprising eight rooms was constructed by pooling funds from both the State fund-2020-21 and PMJVK/MsDP-2019-20.Along with the building, a separate kitchen, a water tank and toilet facilities, have also been constructed for the school, he further informed.
He continued that the council took up the construction of the new school building to help bring some positive changes in the backward village which had not seen any tangible development from the time Manipur attained statehood in 1972."Now with this new building, let's look forward to better education for the local school-going children," Dr Ngalung exuded while inspecting the new classrooms.
Speaking on the occasion, inspector Raising expressed that inauguration of the new building practically means assigning the local villagers a responsibility to optimise it.
Urging the school authority and the villagers to increase the number of students, from the existing 30 students from Standard I-III, he called for disciplinary action against dereliction of duty by any teachers/staffers.
On behalf of the education department under the council, he also assured of providing necessary furniture items for the school, located about 35 km from Ukhrul district headquarters.
SMDC convener Somatai Ngalung expressed gratitude to Dr Yaronsho Ngalung and ADC Ukhrul for the concern shown to the long-neglected primary school.
He said that the school was established in 1946 and had been functioning without proper building.
