Kakching, July 17 2022: A two-day training cum awareness programme on disaster management organised by Disaster Management Institute of the Relief and Disaster Management Department has begun at Hiyanglam Makha Leikai, Kakching district on Sunday.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) sub-team commander Okram Achouba, responders N Prameshwari, O Bedam and A Manglembi conducted demonstrations on saving lives and properties in the event of fire incident and natural calamities.

Speaking on the occasion, Achouba informed that Manipur lies in an earthquake prone area where natural as well as manmade calamities occur frequently.

As such, it is important for the common people to have basic knowledge on safety and saving lives and properties in the event of such calamities.

The training programme was part of the government's policy to train the common people, he said.

Informing that SDRF is planning to organise such training programmes in different parts of the state, he urged local clubs and organisations to contact SDRF if they want to organise such programmes in their locality.
