Protest held over comments against Prophet Muhammad

A Sit-in protest was organised jointly by Changamdabi Muhammadan Club and Ullama Body at Yairipok Changamdabi Mathak Leikai community hall on Friday condemning the defamatory comments made by BJP-leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal against Prophet Muhammad and demanding that they be punished as per law of the land.
Speaking to the media, Ullama Body member Dr Mufti Muhammad Nurs-alim remarked that former BJP spokespersons Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal have violated the principles of pluralism, secularism and unity in diversity upon which our nation has been built and should be punished accordingly.
Authority concerned should take up legal action against them for their false comments that undermined a particular religion, so that such incidents are not repeated, he demanded.
The protest was attended by numerous people of Changamdabi during which they held placards and raised slogans expressing their love for the Prophet and demanding arrest of Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal.
Meanwhile, a public rally was taken out on Friday from Sekmaijin Hangul till Santhel Bazar in Kakching district decrying the defamatory statements made by Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal against Prophet Muhammad.
The rally organised by Jamiatul Ulama Santhel and Hangul in collaboration with various jamiat/ clubs and CSOs of the area was participated by people of various localities who demanded the government to arrest Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal and punish them as per law of the land.
The protestors also used placards and shouted slogans denouncing Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal as well as BJP and RSS.
At the end of rally at Santhel Bazar, the agitators burned the effigies of Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal along with holding a mass prayer to Allah to punish them.
