Imphal, August 16 2023:
Ahead of the talks between the Government of India and the Kuki SoO groups on August 17, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has said the lack of progress and action on the demand for a separate administration for the Kuki-Zo people has been deeply troubling and Kuki-Zo people can no longer allow the negation of the legitimate demand.
According to a KIM statement, the government has the responsibility to address the concerns and challenges faced by its citizens.
Despite numerous appeals and pleas for resolution, no concrete steps have been taken to alleviate the suffering and difficulties faced by Kuki-Zo community, especially in the wake of ethnic clashes.
While stating that well-being and security of Kuki-Zo citizens are not negotiable, the KIM statement said that the government must take immediate and effective measures to address issue and expedite a permanent political solution.
In case of any failure to grant the collective political demand of Kuki-Zo people, they will be left with no choice but to hold the representatives of the talk accountable for their failure to fulfil their duties and responsibilities, KIM said, while warning that any eventuality developing out of such shall not be the fault
of the people.
