AR conducts Covid vaccination drive in Kpi district

Imphal, June 16 2021:
Tamenglong Battalion of 22 Sector Assam Rifles/ IGAR (East), in collaboration with State Health Department undertook COVID sanitization, awareness and vaccination drive in Gorkha Tapan village in Kangpokpi district on Tuesday.
In a release, PIB Defence stated that the medical team of 44 Assam Rifles along with village volunteers carried out sanitization of school, community hall, religious place and other public places in the village.
They also carried out spraying of disinfectant around these places and various cut outs, banners, posters on COVID-19 were also displayed to spread the awareness of Covid appropriate behaviour in continuation of the ongoing mobile Covid vaccination drive.
The medical team along with the PHC, Para Medical Staff facilitated on the spot registration vaccination and administered 210 vaccine doses to 154 people above 18 years of age and 56 people above 45 years of age.
Apart from administering the vaccines, the Chief Medical Officer delivered a talk on COVID-19 complication to the beneficiaries focusing on creating awareness about precautions to be taken in wake of recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
He also mentioned about the myths of vaccination complication which are being circulated in the society through various means.
The misinformation campaign has made many people reluctant to take the vaccine.
Through talk the villagers were motivated to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.
Use of face masks, social distancing and frequent use of hand sanitizers were also emphasised during the awareness drive, the release added.
