Imphal, February 16 2025: In a series of intelligence-based operations in areas under Churachandpur, Thoubal, Tengnoupal and Imphal East districts, Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations under Spear Corps apprehended over 16 cadres and recovered nine weapons.

According to PRO IGAR (S), an operation near the Indo Myanmar Border in Churachandpur district on February 14 led to rounding up of seven cadres of hill-based groups and recovering one 7.62 mm assault rifle, three single barrel rifles, ammunition and war like stores.

On the same day in Tengnoupal district, a cordon and search operation involving use of drones, bomb disposal (BD) teams and explosive detection (ED) dogs resulted in recovery of one 9 mm pistol, one 7.65 mm pistol, an improvised long-range mortar, several improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition and war like stores.

The BD teams safely neutralised the IEDs in situ.

According to the PRO, five cadres of valley-based groups and recovery of war like stores were made during a joint operation in Sikhong Sekmai and Heirok villagers in Imphal East and Thoubal districts respectively.

On Saturday, a joint operation launched by Indian Army and Assam Rifles in Andro Khunou area in Imphal East district led to the apprehension of four cadres, including two female members, of valley-based groups, and recovery of two pistols, ammunition and war like stores.

Meanwhile, in a joint search operation conducted by Assam Rifles and Manipur police at Kairang in Imphal East district on Saturday, a cadre of Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) People's War Group (PWG) was apprehended, the PRO informed, adding, the apprehended individuals along with seized weapons have been handed over to Manipur police.
