Manipur Science Congress ends, prizes distributed

The three-day Manipur Science Congress organised on the theme 'Science and Technology for Sustainable Manipur' jointly by Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC) and Department of Zoology, Manipur University concluded on Sunday.
According to a press release issued by MASTEC director Dr L Minaketan, a total of 252 research papers were presented (oral and poster format) under five sub-themes.
During the valedictory function, awards were presented to winners of the sub-themes.
In the sub-theme 'Biological and Diversity and Conservation, Biomolecules and Biotechnology', awards were presented to MU Department of Zoology's N Hemeshwor, Th D Songomsing and Department of Botany's M Haripriya in oral category; and MU Department of Zoology S Samita and DMU Department of Zoology's Thonbamliu Abonmai in poster category.
In the sub-theme 'Regenerative Technologies, Agriculture and Allied Sciences', awards were presented to College of Agriculture, CAU, Iroisemba's Ng Piloo and Pandit Deen Dayal Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Utlou's Atom Anupama Devi in oral category; and College of Agriculture, CAU' Dinesh Thokchom in poster category.
For the 'Physical, Chemical, Mathematical, Computational and Engineering Sciences' sub-theme, awards were presented to GP Women's College Department of Chemistry's Jerina Soibam in oral category; and Department of Physics, Biramangol College's Soibam Jogita Devi in poster category.
For the sub-theme "Ecology, Environment, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences', awards were presented to Department of Environmental Sciences, DM University's Priya Khumukcham Soibam in oral category; and Department of Zoology, MU's Sharungbam Lousingleima in poster category.
In the 'Health, Medical and Anthropological Sciences' sub-theme, awards were presented to MU Department of Zoology's Jinita Lourembam Soibam in oral category; and Department of Zoology's Naorem Loya Mangang and Thokchom Bidyalakshmi Devi in poster category.
The awards consist of cash prize of Rs 3000 and a citation each.
The Best Paper Presentation award was sponsored by Science and Technology secretary Hungyo Worshang.
The Young Scientist Award for Manipur Science Congress 2024 was presented to CAU's Keisham Dony Devisor her research paper, 'Sustainable Agronomic Practices to Mitigate Greenhouse Gas Emission from Rain-fed Rice' .
The award, dedicated in the name of MASTEC director Dr L Minaketan's elder brother Loitongbam Khogendra Singh, carries cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation, the release informed.
