Children's day celebrated widely in State

The Children's Day was celebrated widely in the State on the occasion of 124th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru today.
The State level Children's Day celebration was organized by Social Welfare Department at Bal Bhavan, Khuman Lampak here.
The celebration was attended by Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai as Chief Guest and Principal Secretary of Social Welfare Barun Mitra as President, while Director of Social Welfare L Ibobi attended as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Mirabai said that the children are the future pillars of the society.
They should be nurtured and groomed properly to become responsible citizens of the country.
The children are the assets of the nation and their welfare must be given top priority.
She further announced that the State Bal Bhavan would be developed with state-of-the-art facilities to enable the children develop their skills in various fields.
Anganwadi Centres and other benefits of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) would be given to the children in the State to ensure their healthy growth and development.
Moreover, honorariums of Anganwadi workers and helpers would be paid soon with the sanction of Rs.31 crores from the Ministry, Mirabai added.
The children of Bal Bhavan presented a variety of entertainment and cultural items during the celebration.
Meanwhile, Wide Angle Social Development Organization also celebrated the Children's Day at its office located at Sagolband Moirang Hanuba.
