Bhaichung inaugurates UNACCO Sports Academy

Imphal, March 12 2025: Indian football icon Bhaichung Bhutia on Wednesday inaugurated the UNACCO Sports Academy at UNACCO College, Khongman Zone-III .

According to a press release issued UNACCO School, the former national football captain was felicitated in a function held at the School during which he also inaugurated the UNACCO Sports Academy.

Bhaichung also interacted and held a photo session with the students during the function which was also attended by UNACCO School and UNACCO College chairman N Irabanta as the presidium member.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhaichung Bhutia noted that Manipur has produced many sports persons who have excelled at the global stage such as in world championships, the Olympic Games, Asian Games, and others.

He commended the students of UNACCO School who participated in national and state championships, while also praising the school for incorporating essential infrastructure and extracurricular activities that are vital for the growth and development of students.

While acknowledging the challenges, he exhorted students to make efforts, for making one's family and community proud.

"One must play sports with a sense of patriotism.

Sports teaches invaluable lessons - whether how to accept setbacks, remain consistent and disciplined, and work hard towards one's goals with dedication and passion," he said.

Bhaichung then noted that a government or a political party cannot bring in peace but the people can.

One must work hard to bring peace and contribute something for the motherland," he added.
