Imphal, January 12 2025:
Maintaining that the people of Manipur would not want peace at the expense of a "Separate Administration", Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha has urged the opposition party to be considerate and extend support to the government's effort to resolve the on-going crisis.
On Sunday, MLA Ibomcha assessed progress of ongoing projects under various government schemes in Pungdongbam gram panchayat area.
The projects included the cemented concrete roads at Ward No 2, Sekta Makha Leikai drain (Ward No 4), Sekta Mayai Leikai drain (Ward No 5) and the Loushangkhong drain.
Following the inspection, a public meeting was held at the Loushangkhbng community hall during which MLA Ibomcha accused the opposition Congress of downplaying the government's achievements with the ulterior motive to tarnish its image.
Though the Congress has been projecting the BJP government as responsible for the crisis, such irrational and irresponsible act, especially at a time when every section of the society should act with extreme caution, underscores that the Congress party does not truly care for the state.
The crisis could be resolved quickly if the demand for "Separate Administration" for the Kukis is ceded, along with halting the process of identifying illegal immigrants and turning a blind eye to the issues of drug trafficking and poppy cultivation, he said, while asserting that the present government will not endorse any demand that poses threat to the state's emotional and territorial integrity.
As the then Congress government failed to bring solution to the myriad sensitive issues besieging Manipur, the Congress leaders should refrain from shifting the blame and instead extend support to the ruling party in order to bring the crisis to an end and restore Manipur to the peaceful state the people desire, he added.
