Relay hunger strike completes 26 days

Imphal, December 11 2024: The relay hunger strike organized by Uripok Apunba Lup and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup at Uripok Canteen Crossing, demanding arrest of all those involved in the abduction and merciless killing of six individuals including children in Jiribam, completed 26 days on Wednesday.

In a release, Uripok Apunba Lup publicity secretary Chingthang Nambam questioned how powerful are those culprits who killed the six individuals that they could not be arrested till now.

As central and state forces have failed to trace or arrest the culprits till now, it is natural to arise posers on whether village volunteers and Meira Paibis should be entrusted to trail the murders, he said, while reiterating the demand for arresting the culprits.

On Tuesday morning, members of Uripok Sorbdn Thingel CDS Club and Meira Paibi joined the relay hunger strike, followed by Kombirei Keithel DCYS Club and Meira Paibi members continuing with the agitation in the evening, and Uripok Ahanthem Leikai Ningthoukhongjam Leikai Club and Meira Paibi at night.
