RIMS negates student casualty rumour

Imphal, September 11 2024: Following Tuesday's protests by students, 100 protesters were brought to RIMS Hospital for treatment, informed RIMS PRO in a release, adding that of the total injured, 98 have already been discharged.

"Regarding the remaining two individuals, we wish to clarify that a rumour circulated claiming a female student had passed away, is unfounded.

The student has recovered and is likely to be discharged on Thursday.

The second injured has undergone an orthopaedic procedure and will be fit for discharge in 2-3 days' time," it said.

The release further urged the public not to believe or spread unverified information, as it can exacerbate the already delicate situation.

It is crucial that all news are verified through credible sources to avoid causing further harm and unrest in the society, emphasised the PRO.
