Statues of R Suisa, Akaba to be unveiled

Two magnificent statues of prominent public leaders Chingshubam Akaba and Rungsung Suisa erected in row at Hongmahn Tangkhul village of Senapati district are set to unveil on April 17 .
Titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba will unveil the two statues on the occasion of 44th death anniversary of Rungsung Suisa on April 17.Rungsung Suisa Trust and Luchingpurel Chingshubam Akaba Ningshing Lup will jointly organise the death anniversary celebration of R Suisa.
Many leaders from different civil society groups from both the hills and valley will attend the event, Rungsung Suisa Trust vice president Mathankhui Zimik informed a press meet at Pandam daily office here on Saturday.
Statues of R Suisa and Chingshubam Akaba were first erected at Wakha Ching in Imphal East last January, he said.
For hills, this will be the first time to have the statues of the two leaders together, he added.
Zimik also disclosed that the two organizations are planning to erect the same statues in Ukhrul district too.
He asserted the primary aim of the erection of statues of R Suisa and Akaba is to strengthen the age-old bond of the hills and valley people.
Meitei National Front (MNF) Central Committee member H Dhani and Lukanil Trust member N Tomba were also present at the press meet.
