Imphal, December 10 2021:
BJP is violating the Covid-19 SOP laid down by its own government, Shiv Sena Manipur Unit president M Tombi has alleged.
Addressing a press meet held at its Babupara office here on Friday, Tombi observed that the new Covid variant, Omicron, is spreading aggressively.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus, the BJP government had laid down SOP and is working hard to enforce the same.
However, BJP has been violating the protocols right from the party office itself.
This is rather unfortunate, he remarked and urged BJP, especially its executives and workers to adhere to the SOP, while urging for prevailing upon the centre to upgrade RIMS to the level of AIIMS.
Tombi then strongly condemned the recent incident in Mon district of Nagaland, adding that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 has again been proven to be a draconian Act.
As such, he urged for ushering in a new government through the upcoming polls, which could repeal the black law from the state.
"Although CM Biren has assured of urging the centre for repealing the Act, his courage falls short to that of the chief ministers of Nagaland and Meghalaya.
It is embarrassing to see a legislation of the British colonial era still being enforced in independent India.
The incident of Heirangoithong, Malom massacre, broad day light murder of Sanjit and pregnant Rabina are still fresh in the minds of the people.
The then Congress government was able to repeal AFSPA from 7 assembly segments but the present ruling government seems to be engrossed in a waiting game," he remarked, while expressing hope that the BJP government would take a firm decision on repealing AFSPA just like it took a firm decision on implementing ILPS and resolving other issues.
