He also explained that after one's last breath everyone can donate the organs to save the precious life of other human beings.
Prof Deven said that MOHAN Foundation's branch in Manipur at JNIMS is working closely towards promoting and enabling organ donation and transplantation in the state.
Pointing out that there are over 5 lakhs people in India who are suffering with end stage organ failure, the director said that those patients can live a normal life if they receive an organ transplant on time.
However, less than 10 per cent of the patients with organ failure received timely help due to acute shortage of organs in our country, Prof Deben added.

According to MOHAN Foundation, Manipur programme officer Laishram Monica Devi, an individual can pledge during his/her lifetime by signing a donor card.
However, it is very important that they discuss the same with the family as the family is the final decision maker.
The event was also supported by Medilane Imphal, La Renon and Saina Institute of Medical Sciences.
