Chandel NCD Cell observes World Heart Day

In an effort to raise awareness about heart health and preventive care, the NCD Cell of District Health Society (DHS), Chandel, observed World Heart Day 2024 at the Penaching village community hall in Chandel district on Tuesday.
The observance held under this year's theme "Use Heart for Action" emphasises the importance of heart health and the need for collective action in addressing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).
Chandel NCD Cell assistant project manager Lamthaka Meshil Charanga, CMO Dr Joyson Matthew Monsang, Cell DNO Dr L Deben Singh, and PVA assistant chief Khp Ng Virnandra attended the programme as presidium members.
They underscored the urgency of raising awareness about cardiovascular health and accelerating efforts to prevent, detect and manage CVDs.
Medical officers, ANMs, ASHA workers, Chandel DHS staff, village leaders and the public also participated in the event.
In addition to awareness events, the observance featured free screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as blood pressure, hypertension and diabetes, as well as random blood sugar (RBS) and ECG scans.
Later, the DHS organised friendly football matches at Liwa, Sarei s Thoruwl Turf ground, adding a recreational aspect to the health-focused observance.
