MAYOL continues campaign on ethical voting

Imphal, April 08 2024:
Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) continued its "Eikhoigi Anouba Laang-on gi Vote" campaign, organising poster displays and mass awareness initiatives in different parts of the state.
A statement released by MAYOL informed that as part of the campaign aimed at exhorting the public to exercise their franchise rights ethnically, women vendors of Khwairamband Ima Keithel were sensitised about the importance of voting.
Leaflets and booklets were distributed to amplify awareness.
At Phumlou, a public meeting was convened in collaboration with All Phumlou Apunba Nupi Lup and local clubs.
ERDO secretary Nahakpam Shanta and advocate Thokchom Suresh were the resource persons, while MAYOL's general secretary Laishram James elucidated the campaign's objectives at the meeting.
Simultaneously, in Bishnupur, another public gathering .took place at Thanga Chinglak Bazar, in partnership with local clubs and Meira Paibi Lups.
LIPUL advisor Puyam Joy and MAYOL president Ashem Prince delivered speeches as resource persons.
The speakers underscored the pivotal role of politics in driving societal development, advocating for public involvement to ensure elected representatives prioritise the welfare of the people.
They emphasised the necessity for a social guideline to facilitate free and fair elections, urging the populace to abstain from corrupt practices such as accepting cash, participating in feasts, proxy voting, and succumbing to money and muscle power.
Additionally, MAYOL extended warm wishes to all communities of the state on the occasion of Sajibu Cheiraoba, expressing hopes for positive societal changes, unity, integrity, and progress in the state.
