Imphal, December 07 2024:
Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam and Spastic Society of Manipur handed over disable certificates to Ningthoujam Thembung (45) of Langthabal Kunja diagnosed with intellectual disability and locomotor impairment, and his brother Apabi with borderline disability on Saturday.
Speaking in this regard, MLA Karam Shyam emphasised the importance of timely information sharing about differently abled individuals by their near and dear ones to the relevant authorities, stating that it will significantly reduce their struggles, where authorities concerned will provide essential support and resources and can better address their needs.
It is saddening that differently abled Ningthoujam Thembung, and his brother Apabi with borderline disability are sustaining their lives through menial jobs to make ends meet.
Even if they are from his constituency, he did not know about their struggle as no one has informed him about them, he continued.
It's unfortunate that, despite their father's service as a primary teacher, who passed away seven years ago, the siblings have not received any benefits from the education department, Karam Shyam denounced while assuring to take up necessary steps to ensure that they get family pension.
Spastic Society of Manipur secretary Laishram Tokendra (Ricky) also urged treasury office and AG to help in availing family pension for the two differently abled brothers.
