Imphal, June 07, 2013:
Tangkhul Naga Valley Students' Association (TNVSA) and Kangleipak Ngalhanba Apunba Lup (KANGAL) have extended their support to the ongoing agitation being spearheaded by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), Manipur to press the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit system in the state.
In a statement, Ringshang Hungpyo, information and publicity of TNVSA, said that permanent settlement benefits are not entitled to outsiders.
The traditional culture of the indigenous people is diminishing day by day due to influx of migrant workers from outside Manipur.
With enforcement of ILP system, the migration of outsiders into the State could be monitored and minimized.
So, the state government should implement ILP in the state with immediate effect.
Y Mohendro Meetei, General Secretary of KANGAL has also called upon the Government of Manipur to translate its assurance on implementing ILP in the state into action rather than just sitting idle and anticipating approval from Centre.
