Thoubal, April 07 2015 :
Students of Model High School, Lamding in Thoubal district continued with their class boycott call today too and locked up the gate of the school.
The protest started from Saturday and is against the decision of the Government to transfer its Headmaster and appoint an assistant graduate teacher from Eureka High School, Khongjom as the Headmaster.
No one, including teachers were allowed to enter the school today.
Speaking to some reporters the agitating students said that they will intensify their agitation if no regular Headmaster is appointed/transferred to the school by April 10 .
As news of the agitation spread, ZEO of Thoubal, Kh Amuba arrived at the school and took stock of the situation.
The ZEO however did not meet the students on strike.
Instead the official met parents and elders of the students and assured that everything that can be done will be done to fulfil the demands of the students within two/three days time.
Expressing a strong stand against the order issued by the Government recently, one of the striking students said that it makes no sense to just appoint one teacher as a Headmaster.
Guardians of the students also said that it would do good for the Government to listen to the demand of the students.
Members of All Manipur Students' Union, Thoubal branch discussed the matter today and assured to extend whatever assistance they can to the agitating students.
