Imphal, May 06 2015 :
BJP Manipur Pradesh strongly condemned the violation of the Election Code of Conduct allegedly by a Cabinet meeting yesterday evening.
Contending that it aims to garner more votes for the Congress in the ADC Election of June 1, BJP state president submitted a written complaint.
Talking to reporters Th Chaoba accused the state government of violation the conduct of conduct as the State cabinet meeting announced plan to appoint School Headmasters, direct purchase of private lands by the government, etc.
As these announcements cannot be made now.
BJP state unit has decided to complain to the State Election Commission.
Chaoba said that the innocent farmers and public are taken for a ride regarding the purchase of land for the setting up of Sports University at Yaithibi Loukol, Thoubal.
He said that near and dear ones of Ministers and MLAs purchased the land from farmers at throw away prices so that the government can purchase from them at a premium.
Chaoba termed the whole process as a well crafted 'ploy' .
BJP demanded the resignation on 'moral grounds'.
He also questioned the hidden agenda behind the setting up of a sports university in an unhealthy environment such as Yaithibi Loukol areas where there is air pollution due to the presence of more than 150 brick kilns.
On the other hand, reacting to MPCC president Gaikhangam's claim regarding the alleged threats by NSCN (IM) to Congress, Chaoba said that there may be hidden agenda and it is extremely shameful for a Home Minister of the Manipur government to say so.
It is like accepting the absence of law and order in hill districts of Manipur, Chaoba remarked.
Attending the press meet, ex-MLA M Hemanta condemned the alleged 'land scam' of the Congress in Thoubal district.
He claimed that there are land scams in Keinya and Khongjom areas.
Former BJP president M Bhorot also opined that the blocking of centrally sponsored schemes and SPA to the Manipur government is due to its own fault as it cannot submit utilisation certificates in time.
So, the state government should not play the 'victim' in this drama to justify the bad economic situation it caused, he added.
