Mass rallies mark Wildlife Week observance

The 70th Wildlife Week 2024 was observed by Divisional Forest Officer of Thoubal under the aegis of Thoubal Forest Division in Kakching on Saturday.
As part of the observance, Kakching AC MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar flagged off a mass rally from in front of Ibudhou Naohallai Kakching Bazar till the Range Office at Kakching Lamkhai.
Held under the theme "Wildlife Conservation through Co-Existence", the participants of the rally raised slogans such as "Wildlife Our Friend", "Wildlife Right to Live", "Save the Animals Save The Planet", "Be A Hero Save Wildlife", etc., highlighting importance of protecting wildlife, hills, rivers and other resources.
Speaking at the occasion, range officer Kakching, Laishram Dinesh said that Wildlife Week is observed to make the people understand and aware about the need to protect wild animals, hills, rivers among others.
He added that the rally was organised with the sole aim of raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding the wild animals inhabiting in wetlands like Loushi Pat, Ekop Pat, Kharungpat.
Khoidum Pat and Pumlen Pat in Thoubal district and Kakching district, under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Forest Division.
Ningthoujam Deepa of Range Officer Headquarters, RO Thoubal Dineshchandra Salam; students of Kakching Higher Secondary School, JRD Pathseeker's Academy Kakching, Kakching Public School, Victory High School Kakching, General English School Sora, Khongjom Standard English School, and Phouoibi Boarding Kakching; football players of Keirak Foundation, Kakching; officials, staff from Thoubal Forest Division and civil society organisations, clubs and individuals of both Thoubal and Kakching districts participated in the rally.
Chandel Forest Division also observed the 70th Wildlife Week 2024 on the theme 'Wildlife Conservation through Co-existence' with a cycle rally from Pallel to Komlathabi Beat Office on Saturday.
Organised under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Chandel Abhijit KV (1FS), the rally was participated by students of various schools and institutions, youth clubs' representatives, range officer Chandel K Pawankumar Sharma and staff.
Tengnoupal Forest Division also observed the Wildlife Week Celebration 2024 with a rally on Saturday.
The rally was participated by Tengnoupal Forest Division Deputy Conservator of Forest Mahamuda Begum, RFO Machi, RFO Tengnoupal and staff, students, women and other.
Prizes pf essay and painting competitions organised earlier were also distributed at the occasion.
