Imphal, July 05 2013 : Nehru Yuva Kendra, Imaphal felicitated its Youth Coordinator of Thoubal district Yumnam Lakshman on his winning National Award for Best Awareness Campaign on drug abuse and AIDS programmes.

The felicitation programme was held at the NYK office Lamphelpat in presence of Tilotama Devi, Vice-chairperson of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Zonal Director of NYK Zackie Ruivah, District Youth Coordinators and other youth activists.

Lakshman received the Award on behalf of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal from the President of India Pranab Mukherjee.

The commendable performance of NYK Thoubal includes organizing of district conventions and drug de-addiction programmes in Thoubal district.

The NYK Thoubal could ensure involvement of 17 NGOs, 70 Youth clubs, 50 Mahila Mandals, Zilla Parishads and Gram Panchayats, etc.

The Award has been given to NYK Thoubal for courage and commitment in the field of prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.
