RPF punishes man for illicit activities

Imphal, August 04 2024: The proscribed Revolutionary Peoples Front/Peoples Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) rounded up and punished a man who allegedly had illicit relationship with 28 girls.

The man has been identified as Shamulailatpam Devesh Sharma, 34 son of S Premeshwar of Nongmeibung Wangkheirakpam Leikai Academy Lambi, Imphal East.

Devesh was paraded before the media on Sunday somewhere in Imphal East district by outfit's Division-II functionaries.

BCA-completed Devesh Sharma told media persons that he had illicit relationship with 28 girls between the year 2011 and 2023 and had eloped with four girls.

Devesh said that he got married in 2015 but his wife left him one year later with their divorce case still pending in court.

According to Devesh, he eloped with a girl even before settling the divorce case last year but his and girl's parents reached an understanding to hold marriage ceremony after settling the pending case.

While promising not to have illicit relationship with any girl in future, Devesh said he will accept whatever punishment the RPF/PLA awards in case of further indulgence in immoral acts.

A spokesperson of Division-II of RPF/PLA told media persons that Devesh was called up by the outfit after getting specific report of his indecent and illicit relationship with 28 girls and devaluing sanctity of women.

During questioning, Devesh disclosed his illicit relationship with 28 girls, the spokesperson said adding that Devesh would not be given harsh punishment as of now but will award severe and befitting punishment if he found indulging in immoral acts.
